Progress on my book cover and book formatting

I continue to work with Damonza on my cover art and book formatting for The Handyman’s Tale. We went through three rounds of editing on the cover design. The cover design is now complete. They (Damonza) are working on the formats (audio, eBook, print, etcetera). The cover looks great. I’m very excited.

I just reviewed the audiobook cover today. The eBook will be next, and they are working on the book (text) format. I’ve been slow to respond at various points, but the folks at Damonza have been very patient. So kudos to their team.

They asked me about my social media platforms. Instagram? Facebook? TikTok? I am embarrassed that I didn’t have an immediate answer. I am currently on Facebook, but other than my website, I do not have a presence elsewhere yet. I’ve given some thought over the last few months on how to proceed. So, in the spirit of telling folks how I’m proceeding (and all the mistakes I’m making along the way :) here’s what I said…

1)      I haven’t quite completed my full marketing plan yet. Here are the elements that I currently expect to use…

·       a) As I push the Handyman’s Tale through Amazon, I will plan a future release (maybe 4/1/2027, maybe a bit earlier)

·       b) I’d like to put the book out for Advanced Review Copies. Probably through Book Funnel and focusing on Booksprout, BookSirens, and Net Galley.

·       c) I will advertise the book on my own personal website www.tomdrennanauthor.com.

·       d) I plan to do Goodreads advertising and giveaways.

·       e) I will promote on Facebook.

·       f) I will do an audio for the book (though I am not sure of the timing). It will almost certainly be through one of the major companies (i.e., I will not be doing the audio myself).

·       g) I am not on Instagram or TikTok, but one or both of those platforms may be part of the plan in the near future.

·       h) I am not yet on Substack but will probably look into that shortly.

·       i) I have a second book in the McCall Mysteries series that is through final editing. Once we finish The Handyman’s Tale, I will probably put The Handyman’s Curse through the same process.

So, there you have it—my poor man’s plan for social media and marketing. I have a lot to learn, I’m sure!

I’ll keep you abreast of what I learn.

Tom
