About Tom

Hi all. I’m Tom Drennan, a happy Irishman who, during my forty years as an IT professional for a Fortune 15 company, longed for time to write. Yeah, I know, lots of working folks get up at 4:00 a.m. and write, or maybe they write while in line at the grocery store and while they’re riding a bike at the gym. Well, lazy that I am, I never got the hang of doing that.

Along the way, I did manage to accomplish a wee bit. My short story, The Children China Made, appeared in Writers of the Future. I joined a magnificent writing group, The Alternate Historians, and I published a book, Thor McGraw and the Ice Man Murder, through Word Posse in 2015 (it’s a cozy mystery with a little zap of urban fantasy). I’m the secretary of the St. Louis Chapter of Sisters in Crime. And I attend three or four mystery or sci-fi/fantasy conventions a year.

Now, I’m retired and have the time to work on The Mike McCall Mysteries, the first of which, The Handyman’s Tale, is a Crime Thriller with Urban Fantasy elements. Think of the movie Taken, but our hero has a particular set of magical skills—if only he knew what they were and how to use them. I hope to have this out and available soon.

Most days you’ll find me at the local Panera Bread (Breadco) writing the morning away.
